Bangali Comfort Food-Aloo Bhorta

Aloo Bhorta –
 Mashed Potatoes
Recipe By Fatemabhen Mohamedbhai 


Ingredients

2-3 medium potatoes

2 tsp mustard oil (start with 1 and then add more as needed)

1/2 small onion, chopped into small pieces

2 dried red chilies, chopped into small pices )

1 green chilli ( chopped)

salt to tast

Coriander as u like

 Preparation

1.  Boil potatoes until tender.  Remove from water and place in large bowl.  Mash until to your desired consistency —  kept a few lumps in.

2.  Add mustard oil, onions, and red chilies, green chilli and incorporate throughout potato mixture.  Add salt and adjust for taste.  You can add more mustard oil or onions if you want more heat.

3.  Enjoy!

I went the traditional route and served this with steamed white rice and some masoor dal.  But there’s no reason why you couldn’t serve this as a twist on your usual mashed potatoes.
